hate to break it to you
but we didn’t ever drop a nuclear bomb on Germany

But we didn’t hesitate to drop it on Japan.
TWICE.
The effects of that bomb still affects citizens, today, if you know basic chemistry and understand how radioactive decay works. There are children and adults still suffering from cancerous effects just from being in the area of the blast zone for too long…80+ years LATER.
Not to mention that the fact that they would rather bomb Japan than Germany tells me there was some racist bias involved in that decision.

If you guys would know anything about history you would know that they didn’t drop the bomb in Germany because GERMANY FUCKING SURRENDED. ALSO THEIR LEADER COMMITTED SUICIDE. GERMANY LOST. They bombed Germany constantly! After Germany was defeated Japan was the biggest threat in the war.
Also!! Japanese people committed horrible and racist war crimes towards Chinese and Korean people. Some of the incidents have also been described as an Asian Holocaust. Ever heard of Unit 731? One of the most horrible human experiments in the history. Most of the victims were Chinese and Korean, and included women, children and infants. Or you know when they sold Korean women to sex slavery? Or Rape of Nanking? Or the ways they killed captured allied men?
They did some really fucked up shit. Here’s a nice list for beginners. They also supported nazis. They also very often refuse to acknowledge that these things did happen.
Yeah, so many countries committed war crimes. America too. Japan too. You can’t talk about a complex historical event such as the fucking WORLD WAR 2 on a tumblr comments likes “amurica so bad they didn’t bomb nazis because they whiteys too my feels :’((((“  especially when you don’t even know the basics.
Read fucking books (or educational internet sites) and learn about what the what the actual fuck was going on.
Learning actual history too hard, tumblr pls educate me! :’(
This shit makes me so angry like what the actual fuck.

^^^ Thank you. A world war means a WORLD WAR. NO ONE INNOCENT. Not the Japanese, not the Americans, not the Italians, Chinese, Germans, British, Russians, French, NO ONE. Put down the computer mouse and pick a goddamn history textbook, you white-blaming, ignorant morons. Not everything was the white man’s fault. A good chunk of it was, but not this time. Put your fucking fee-fees aside for a moment and bloody LEARN.

One must also remember that the Japanese people were fed propaganda. Women and children were told to believe that American soldiers were horrible and would commit atrocities to them.  However, for the most part, this was untrue.  In addition, take a look at how the samurai fight.  They fight to the bitter end.  It’s this ideal that the Japanese military wanted to keep up.  There was no honor in defeat for them.  The military was prepared for an all out final confrontation on the home front against American soldiers.  But the thing is, American soldiers weren’t the only problem.  The Soviet Union would soon declare war on Japan.  If the US and the USSR both committed to a land invasion of the Japanese homeland, what would that mean for them?  They would be utterly and brutally destroyed in a futile final battle.  My argument is that the atomic bombs forced Japan into surrender before it could be destroyed by an invasion.  It saved the nation and kept the emperor in office (although powerless) while its citizens and other non-combatants would not be caught in a crossfire between two world powers killing their government.  This land invasion, in the long run, would be MUCH MUCH MORE DEVASTATING than the initial impact of the atomic bombs.  Japan would have been totally annihilated.

do you think its an easy decision to use an atomic bomb in the first place

I’m gonna refer all parties to this post
Like the excuse that is two posts above me is the one we’re fed in history classes to make the event seem less ugly but more recent scholarship has shown that Japan had entered talks about surrendering over a year before the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, that many more Japanese people were killed anyway than Germans by American firebombing campaigns. You know the bombing of Dresden? That happened to pretty much every major Japanese city. We act like they could’ve gone forever but Japan is critically poor in natural resources and the reality (that was known at the time, mind you) was that Japan was pretty much out of resources and the war effort was beginning to implode. So yeah, when you analyze what we know now and look at documents from the time it’s actually pretty clear and hard to dispute that those bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki just to show Russian spies in Japan what the US was capable of. Yes, they really valued Japanese lives that little.

^^^^THANK YOU.

What if mermaids live really long - and the longer they live, the bigger they grow?

(I guess the bigger they grow, the harder it is for them to stick their torso and even their head out of the water. That’s why no one ever sees the big ones. And definitely never the huge ones.)
A bit late to the party, but here’s my contribution to Julie Dillon’s Catalog of Merfolk. I didn’t have nearly as much time to finish this as I wanted, but I have to be up in 5 hours so this will have to do!

Do you ever memorize a person’s voice? Like you can construct a sentence in your mind that that person’s never said, and yet you hear them say it.

Is that a thing people can do?????????

yea

I just did it
